How Much Does It Cost For Hair Implants

How Much Does It Cost For Hair Implants Cost is one of the biggest deciding factors for many residents when considering hair implant surgery. It’s not hard to see why – even the simplest transplants cost thousands of dollars. The price is enough to give anyone a break and wonder why this procedure can be so amazingly expensive.

How Much Does It Cost For Hair Implants

The quick answer is this – a hair implant, although there is no open-heart surgery, is still a surgery performed only by qualified doctors. Many factors play a role in calculating costs. Here are the six items charged to your hair transplant account.

End Of Consultation

A consultation fee is required during the preliminary consultation. This may differ slightly between surgeons and the location of the clinic. However, in our clinic, we abandon the consultant’s fee and do it for free.

Size Of The Area That Requires Treatment

Hair loss is different for every person, no matter how similar it may seem on the surface. The labor cost between 500 and 1000 implants is high because the difference is also large. The result you want to achieve also changes the design you will need. Some people want thick hair color, while others want to hide the bald spot. Obviously, the more transplants you need, the more you will pay.

Through personal consultation, a surgeon can properly assess the problem and the extent of the work to be done. Take the opposite direction to clinics that promise cookie cutting treatment programs. Your surgeon should be able to explain the cost with the amount of work that needs to be done.

Type Of Session

Some surgeons will perform “megasessions”, which is a hair implant that uses 3,000 to 5,000 implants. It requires a lot of time, quality control, and organizational ability. This takes about 12 hours to run. Mega sessions are made possible by recent improvements in the field of hair transplantation.

Advantages of mega sessions include:

  • Less surgery, you do not need to spend more than 1 sick day at work
  • Fewer marks on the back of the head
  • The results become more noticeable faster
  • Overall cheaper for the patient

However, despite the attractive advantages of mega sessions, only a few surgeons can perform it successfully.

Most doctors will require multiple sessions for hair implant surgery. Hair transplant surgery is performed by harvesting hair from donor areas and transplanting into recipient areas. This is a painful process that requires care and skill. A hasty hair implant can lead to an unusual hair appearance or hair loss transplant.

If the bald areas are not completely covered in one session, the surgeon will ask the patient to return. People with advanced hair loss are more likely to require multiple implants and sessions.

Technique Used

There are two techniques used in hair implant surgery, FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation) and FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction).

The FUT method or the strip method is the traditional approach to hair implant surgery. Includes an incision in the back of the scalp to remove a strip of skin containing donor implants. The hair removal procedure is very short and thus allows your surgeon better control and accuracy, reducing the need for implant resection. The cost per implant used by FUT is about $ 7 for the first 500 implants, but can be reduced to $ 5.50 per implant if more is needed.

The FUE involves the immediate removal of donor implants from their original position using a specialized tool. On average, FUE costs more than FUT, but it may be more appealing to some because the procedure leaves no scars on the back of your head. The method is also more difficult and has a higher risk of resection. Expect to pay around $ 12 to $ 18 per implant.

If you choose Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), then you can expect several sessions to achieve the results you want. The younger you are, the more sessions you may need to compensate for the progressive nature of hair loss. The surgeon will discuss this with you in detail during the consultation.

Surgeon’s Fee

The professional fee of a surgeon will vary depending on the location of his clinic. Reputation also plays a role. For these reasons, the professional fee for surgeons may differ from that.

Surgery is sensitive and life-changing. Hair implant surgeons need to make sure that the transplants survive and grow naturally while reducing scarring and avoiding costly cuts. The level of skills required to perform the process – and perform well – will not be cheap. The brightest red flag to look out for is the one that offers transplants at a much lower price than other clinics. For your safety and satisfaction, it is always best to assume that you are getting what you pay for.

On the other hand, just because a surgeon charges premiums does not automatically mean that they offer quality results. Always let a doctor’s portfolio, aesthetics, patient reviews, and reputation guide your decisions.

Fees Of Anesthesiologist And Anesthesia

Usually, anesthesia fees fall between the hospital bill and the surgeon’s fee. Anesthesiologists are paid a similar or higher amount by the surgeon per case.

The type of anesthesia you need will affect the cost and is usually decided by the procedure you need. Generally, hair implants are performed under local anesthesia, which is injected directly at the site of surgery and numbness of the nerves in and around it. Some surgeons may also put patients in mild depression. Unlike general anesthesia, local anesthesia allows the patient to go home immediately after surgery. It also has fewer side effects.

What Are The Safe Low-Cost Alternatives To FUE Hair Implants?

We offer alternative treatments for FUE hair implants and these include FDA approved medicines such as minoxidil lotion (5%) and finasteride (oral medicines)

These are the only FDA approved medicines available to patients and are consulted by both of the majority of all hair transplant surgeons working in our clinic.

Medication is just a precautionary measure that helps to slow down and possibly stop further hair loss. They can also thicken thinner hairs, which although they can only achieve 10% of what a complete FUE hair implant can achieve, in some cases it is enough to approve the appearance of the patients.
